In 1878, Morris was entrusted with the recipe for "Vinum Amoris" – a noble wine enhanced with herbs and the "berries of the Hesperides," which ripen where Mediterranean winds meet the crisp mountain air.
MORRIS "WHISPERING BERRIES" is crafted from premium Italian wine and infused with extracts of wormwood, sun-ripened berries, and alpine botanicals distilled in small copper pot stills. The wormwood extract lends its characteristic bitterness and a distinct complexity. This "forgotten elixir" fascinatingly combines the flavors of nature while carrying the charm of ancient legends into the present day.
For MORRIS VERMOUTH, Peter and Theresia Angel combine their more than thirty years of expertise in the art of spirits production with the ideals of William Morris and his love for Italian history and lifestyle: craftsmanship, authenticity, and an appreciation for the mystical origins of great pleasures. In collaboration with experienced vermouth producers in Piedmont, a product was born that reimagines alpine refinement through Italian tradition.
The foundation is a carefully selected Trebbiano wine, flavored with wormwood extract (Artemisia absinthium) and a finely tuned composition of further botanicals. The processing of fresh bitter oranges from the Mediterranean coast and freshly harvested berries from the Swiss Alps is particularly elaborate; they are macerated and distilled alongside handpicked alpine herbs. These distillates – such as raspberry, blackberry, and orange zest – are custom-crafted by THE WILD ALPS in Switzerland and Italy, giving the vermouth expressions their unmistakable depth and vibrant freshness.
